Fielding Schofield photographs of pen work, ca. 1870-1888.

Cabinet card and oversize photographs of pen work done by calligrapher and pen artist Fielding Schofield and his pupils. Contains examples of diplomas, marriage certificates, illustrated prayers, and pen drawings by Schofield, as well as one photo of a Civil War monument in Charlestown, Mass. The photographs were taken ca. 1870-1888 by McCormick and Scott of Quincy, Ill. and Parker & Co. of Newark, N.J., among many others. Some of the cabinet cards are inscribed by D.L. Musselman, fellow pen artist and proprietor of the Gem City Business College and Normal Penmanship Institute in Quincy, Ill., where Schofield was an instructor.
